Students React
Vanguard Press interviewed several students who attended the event. The students expressed mixed reactions.
Abdul Lateef, a third-year student of microbiology, came to the event with enthusiasm. Though he was not satisfied with the unfriendly weather condition at the time he left, he was able to meet new people.
“Honestly speaking, at first I came with all excitement to witness the speech. The first disappointment that strikes me was that I had to wait for an hour before the guest arrived so also the hall was not conducive, though I see some highly respected dignitaries,” Abdullateef said.
Another student, Abdul Basit Muhammad who is a 300-level student of Islamic studies, said his experience was not totally bad as event availed him the chance to see an Arab and some important personalities.
“It is totally unfortunate, seriously the hall is totally unconducive because of the heat. I don't know how the guest felt but I experienced a lot, and is my first day of meeting an Arab and the Sultan of Sokoto physically and I am opportune to see prominent people.”
