ASUU-UDUS Sets to Hold 2023 Elections

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto Chapter is preparing to hold elections for various leadership positions of the Union. The Union's Electoral Committee Executives have requested nominations of competent candidates interested in occupying available offices in the chapter's upcoming election scheduled to come up on the 24th of August, 2023.
This information obtained by Vanguard Press earlier this week is contained in a flyer released to the public by the Media and Publicity Team of the electoral committee.
The flyer reads in part, "The electoral committee calls for nomination into the office of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Internal Auditor, Welfare Secretary, and Investment Secretary."
According to a flyer, collection, and return of completed nominated forms as mandated by the electoral committee will commence on Wednesday 12th of July, and last till Friday 11th of August while the full list of nominees in all offices will be displayed on Saturday 12th, of August.
Meanwhile, the information also noted that there'll be an interaction with nominees from Monday 14th of August till Saturday 19th of August and an announcement of eligible candidates on Monday 21st of August preceding the Committee's adherence to its free and fair election scheduled to hold on Thursday 24th of August, 2023.
Voting at various polling units will commence from 8 am till 1 pm at the various polling units while results collation and declaration will be at the Union's Secretariat, Main Campus.
The election will be held at four polling centers which include: the Conference Room of City Campus for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (1), Center for Islamic Studies, and Cibiyar Nazarin Hausa; and the ASUU Secretariat in Main Campus for the Faculty of Law, Chemical and Life Sciences, Physical and Computing Sciences, Education, Arts, Library and, Arabic and Islamic Studies. Chemical Pathology Lab in the School of Medical Lab Science (Uduth Sokoto) will serve as the polling center for the College of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences as that of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (2), Agriculture, Management Sciences, Engineering, and Social Sciences is Boardroom Faculty of Management Science.
