Column with Legal Queen: Slippery Toilets at PG Hostel: A Danger Zone in Need of Urgent Remediation
Muhammad Habibat Sani
Slippery toilets pose a constant threat to the safety and well-being of residents at the PG (IC) hostel. This urgent concern demands immediate attention from the school authorities. Let us delve into the issue, starting with a harrowing incident that exemplifies the pressing need for remediation.
There is a shocking incident to this subject. Amidst the usual hum of hostel life, a loud crash reverberated through the corridors of the PG (IC) hostel - Sweeeesh Gbagam! Grunts and groans followed, indicating another victim had fallen prey to the perilous state of the hostel toilets. Mary, a diligent resident, sought solace in the restroom after a long day of study. Little did she know that her moment of respite would transform into a nightmare. With a heart-wrenching cry, Mary's world was suddenly turned upside down as she slipped on the hazardous and slippery surface, crashing down and bruising her body and dignity.
And why such happened to marry, Poorly Designed Drainage System is the answer. The root cause of this perilous situation lies in the poorly designed drainage system. The absence of a proper slope or inclination leads to a blockage, allowing water to accumulate in the toilets. The stagnant water turns the restroom into a slippery zone, endangering the well-being of anyone attempting to use the facilities.
While the situation of the toilets remains, the residents face the struggle. Daily, students face a daunting challenge when entering these restrooms. Like navigating a minefield, a misstep can lead to embarrassing falls, causing physical and emotional distress. Beyond the disruption to our daily routines, this situation impacts our peace of mind and overall sense of safety within the hostel premises.
Not happy with the trends, I write to earnestly appeal to the esteemed administrators to prioritize the rectification of this pressing matter. An extensive inspection of the drainage system, focusing on the slope and overall functionality, is urgently needed. It is crucial to guarantee a smooth flow of water, eliminating any possibility of blockages or accumulation that transform our toilets into hazardous zones.
If that is done, we are all going to benefit. Addressing this issue will not only ensure the welfare and security of the students but also create an environment conducive to focus, productivity, and a sense of belonging. A safe and welcoming living space enhances the student experience and contributes to the reputation of our institution.
In conclusion, the slippery toilets at the PG (IC) hostel demand immediate remediation. We implore the school authorities to take swift action in inspecting and rectifying our hostel's drainage system. By doing so, we restore safety, dignity, and peace of mind to the lives of all residents. Let us work together to ensure that our PG (IC) hostel becomes a haven free from the dangers of slippery toilets.
