Inside UDUS: NUASA Educates Students On Sage50 Accounting Software

The Nigerian Universities Accounting Students' Association, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto Chapter, in collaboration with Zeteo Citadel Consult Jos began a transformative learning process called Sage 50 with some accounting students of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. 

The 6-day training session that is being held at NCC Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto for a sum of N10,000 per individual kick-started with a free computer literacy training for the development of personal growth, on Monday, 28th August, 2023 after which the training proper commenced.

Sage 50 is a desktop accounting software with cloud connectivity, giving you a complete view of your business finances and inventory. This software program allows business owners to track their income and expenses in multiple currencies, track inventory manage invoices, pay employees, etc.



During an interview with the President of NUASA, Akinwale Akintomiwa Isaac disclosed the rationale behind the training as to introduce students to the new trend in the profession. 

"The dynamic nature of Accounting as a profession calls for frequent updates of knowledge to keep professionals up to date", he stated.

According to him, the training is aimed at equipping participants with requisite skills that will enable them to compete effectively with their counterparts in the finance world.

He also noted the skill is expected to add value to the image of the institution, by producing digitally inclined financial luminaries.

Furthermore, he stated that the training will improve the level of effectiveness and efficiency in the workplace and the digital world at large.

Beneficiaries Share Experience

Joy Muhammad, a 400-level student of the Accounting department and a beneficiary of the program, expressed a heartfelt gratitude to the facilitator.

"The program has opened me to a lot of things, and I feel like a Chartered Accountant already. It has also helped in building my confidence. From the beginning of the program I wondered if I would be able to do it, but presently am really happy I'm part of this program. Thanks, Mr. Success for building me up. God bless NUASA," she said

Another beneficiary is Labara Ayaka a 200-level Accounting student who is glad that he participated in the training. "The program exposed me to a lot, I feel like a special accountant with the few days of training I have undergone. This is wonderful for all accounting students," he mentioned.

Abdullahi Ismail Shittu, a 400-level Accounting student, emphasized the importance of the training saying, "The program has shown a great resolve towards accounting and innovation in the ever-changing development and advancement towards accounting profession not only in Nigeria but also in the world as a whole we as a participant in this program has found the sage 50 program is a forever changing and enlightening experience" he stated.
