Danfodiyo Students Return from NAMS Northern Region Conference

In a remarkable display of academic prowess and leadership, students from the Microbiology Department at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, have returned from the highly anticipated National Association of Microbiology Students (NAMS) Northern Region Conference, which took place at Kaduna State University from September 27th to 30th, 2023.

The group consisted of five enthusiastic participants who are students from UDUS: Musa ABDULAZEEZ; Abdullahi I Bilkis, the Vice President of NAMS; Fahad Aminu; Yunusa Ismail, the Social Director of the NAMS-UDUS; Ruth Adam Kuyet; and Fareeda Badmus. Their journey was not just an opportunity for learning but also a chance to forge connections within the microbial community across different institutions.

Yunusa Ismail, the NAMS Social Director at UDUS, shared his excitement stating, "Alhamdulillah, the program went well, and we also met microbial family members from different institutions." 

Adding to the joyous occasion, the group was offered prestigious appointments during the conference. The Independent Electoral Committee of NAMS Northern Region recognized their potential, appointing Oyekanbi Azizah Oyewumi, a 300-level student, as the Assistant Secretary General, and Fahad Aminu, a 200-level student, as the Sports Director.

The accolades did not end there. The group proudly brought home awards, with Fahad Aminu receiving the title of "Influencer of the Year" and Adebesi Rofiat Temitope being named "Entrepreneur of the Year." Their outstanding achievements exemplify the dedication and talent within the Microbiology Department at UDUS.

Yunusa Ismail expressed their honor of securing a place within the prestigious NAMS Northern Region. "We are honored to have a seat among the NAMS Northern Region," he remarked.

As this journey concludes, the students look forward to future endeavors. "The program was a resounding success, and we hope to attend the Northern Region Conference to be held at FUTMINNA next year," Yunusa Ismail concluded.
