Inside UDUS: ANTI-AIDS Holds Public Lecture, UnveiLs Renovated Signboard

The Anti-AIDS Club, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, hosted a remarkable event on Friday, October 20, 2023, at the IBB Friendly Center, UDUS Main Campus. The occasion, graced by esteemed guests and students, marked the unveiling of a renovated signboard and a captivating public lecture on "Negotiating Skills."
The public lecture, which focused on the power of negotiating skills in anti-AIDS advocacy, was delivered by Dr. Ibrahim Omar, Director of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto Clinic, through his representatives, Dr. Adamu Abubakar and Mal. Bala Gadanga, at the event, and had the honor of unveiling the newly renovated signboard. This project was executed by the 2022–2023 Executive Committee of the association.
The event, which was held at the IBB Friendly Center, commenced at exactly 11:00 a.m. with a public lecture and ended with the unveiling of a renovated signboard and photo shots by 1:00 p.m., brought together the university community to support the cause and celebrate the club's commitment to raising awareness about HIV/AIDS.
Dr. Adamu Abubakar, speaking to Vanguard Press, commended the Anti-AIDS Club's project, saying, "This is a commendable project by the Anti-AIDS Club Executive Committee of this session. As you can see, this is a busy road where students pass, and they can now see the signboard clearly from afar and read the educative content on it, which will attract interested members to join the fight against HIV/AIDS."
Comrade Abdullahi Aliyu, the President of the Sokoto State Students Association (SOSSA), commended the club's efforts in renovating the signboard, calling it "one of the most exciting programs I have attended this semester."
Reacting, the President of the Anti-AIDS Club UDUS, Comrade Sadiya Suleiman, expressed her delight with the success of the program, stating, "I’m really happy for having a successful program and am hoping to do more before the end of my administration."
The event saw the presence of notable student leaders, including the President of the Zero Tolerance Club, Shehu Munir Waziri; the Former president of the Anti-AIDS Club, Comrade Nasiru Aliya; and the President of the Sokoto Students State Association (SOSSA), Abdullahi Aliyu, among others.
