NACJ Holds Campus Journalists' Congress

The National Association of Campus Journalists (NACJ) Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto hosted its Campus Journalist Congress (CJC) and the induction of mass communication students on Sunday 22nd October 2023.
The congress which was held in the A134 FAIS hall building started at 11:00 am with an opening prayer from an opening prayer by a member of the association and remarks by the president followed.
The reading of the last minute was skipped due to the time factor and a motion was passed to support it.
The business of the day (BOD) started with the feedback on CJID (Center for Journalism, Innovations, and Development) training by the president and members reports from committees, ICIR training, and Induction of mass communication students.
The president commended members who were present in the campus journalist training organized by CJID and urged them to be steadfast in reporting as journalism is all about practice. He informed the members of a training coming soon organized by ICIR, another journalism organization.
The Chairman of the committees, check and balance committee, and constitution committee were asked to give an account of the activities of the week. Stating that Vanguard Press, News Digest Press, and Pen Press all have nine publications, Interwatch Press with just zero publications, and Gamji Press with one publication.
The Chairman of the constitutional review committee submitted the constitution to the president awaiting approval (signature).
A total number of forty-three students from the Department of Mass Communication were inducted today by the association's General Secretary, Abdulganiyu Abdulrahman Akanbi. The representative of the concerned students, Anas Abdulrahman, a 300-level student thanked NACJ for the opportunity expressing that they were very pleased to join the association while he encouraged his fellows to be committed and make use of the opportunity to practice whatever will be taught to them in lecture halls.
Followed by the Any Other Business (AOB) which was very interactive as members made suggestions and observations among which the Treasurer in person of Joy Enoch, shared the information of a dinner/ award night to be held stating 1200, 2500, and 3000 as meal tickets for attendees. Although the date for the NACJ day is yet to be fixed, she also stated that there may be a review of the meal ticket fee and would inform Congress about it in the next Congress.
Vice President Abdulrasheed Hammed gave the closing remarks urging the newly inducted members of NACJ from mass communication to take this journalism seriously and be committed.
The closing prayer was said and the congress was adjourned till the next time and the closing prayer was done by a member.
