Special: Jubilations as UDUS Undergraduate Mahmud Yusuf Joins Presidential Committee On Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms

The reverberated cheers from Danfodiyo students, well wishers, and members of the Nigerian Economics Students Association, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Chapter have been traced to the feat Mahmud Yusuf attained before his successful screening to join the Secretariat of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform Committee as a Research Assistant and Analyst.

His appointment was approved in a congratulatory statement from the Presidential Committee On Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform, signed by Edwina Anaele, Presidential Committee Research Analyst.

The statement reads, "Congratulations! You have been selected to join the Secretariat of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee as a Research Assistant and Analyst. You are invited to attend an induction session on Monday 09th of October, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to discuss details of your role and expectations."

"The duration of your participation with the Secretariat will be for 3 months and you are free to choose which slot from October to December 2023; January to March 2024 and April to June 2024 would suit you beat on a first come first served basis. The form to indicate your preference will be shared after the induction," the statement added.

A Product of Prayers, hard work and Commitment

While speaking with Vanguard Press on the realization birthed from relentlessness, Mahmud Yusuf, a final-year student from the Department of Economics, said his appointment sprouted from prayers, hard work, commitment, and dedication.

"Leadership positions, public speaking, and extracurricular activities are the major things I'm happy for actively engaging in," he said while stating what further developed his self-confidence.

He debunked claims of extracurricular activities affecting primary assignments on Campus and urged Members of the Student Tax Club, UDUS Chapter to remain more committed as more benefits will be unveiled soon.

The President of the Nigerian Economics Students' Association, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Chapter, Ahmed Jubril, testified of Mr. Yusuf's enormous enthusiasm towards whatever he does.

"I'll term his triumph as an opportunity that meets preparation, and that hard work pays. Mahmud shows dedication, discipline, and enthusiasm towards his various responsibilities as the Association's Financial Secretary which I can recount from my experience with him," he said.

"I am personally proud that a student from the Department of Economics at UDUS will be among the policymakers in repositioning our economy towards development. I hope and pray he represents us well," he added.

Jubril expressed his honor of having Mr. Yusuf, whose appointment was well earned due to his policy-making and ability to provide solutions to economic issues. "We're honored to have him in our Association and pray his impact is long felt," he concluded.

Sharing his excitement, the Association's Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Abdullahi Ayomide said, "Mr. Yusuf's Nomination is such a remarkable achievement that'll pave the way for other members of NESA-UDUS Chapter."

"I urge fellow students to splurge themselves in activities pivotal to the actualization of their academic pursuit," he added while iterating his adherence to Mr. Yusuf's pertinent counsel's commitment to all matters.

Speaking on his outstanding academic performance, Sadique Tijjani, President of the Student Tax Club of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Chapter, expressed his pleasure in witnessing the Club's Director of Finance skills being showcased.

"Alhamdulillah, I wholeheartedly congratulate him on his well-deserved nomination," he added.
