Inside UDUS: Coalition of UDUS Faculties Presidents Meets on Students' Matters, Expresses Commitment to Develop Varsity

The Coalition of All Faculty Presidents at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto met yesterday Monday 21st of August, 2023 for the purpose of addressing some challenges faced by students and promoting the cultural, ethical, and academic heritage of the University. 

The meeting which was held at the Board Room of the Faculty of Social Sciences and was convened and summoned by the President of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Comrade I B Khalifa had in attendance presidents of all the fifteen Faculties in UDUS or their representatives. 

Delivering the opening remarks and keynote address, Barrister Balle, the Faculty Officer for the Faculty of Social Sciences, expressed his gratitude for being invited to address the meeting while he charged the coalition to uphold unity and work with the Students' Handbook to ensure the welfare of students on campus and tackle their challenges in a manner that is in tandem with the interest of the University. 


In his remarks, Comrade Ibrahim A Khalifa, popularly known as IB Khalifa explained the reason that necessitated the formation of the Coalition as passion and zeal to develop UDUS beyond the status quo, improve the welfare of students and experiences gathered from other universities. 

"UDUS is a university known for its peace decency and academic excellence. The university awards degree to students who are found worthy in both character and learning."

"The rationale behind reviving the glory of this noble coalition is to assist the university tremendously in maintaining this status quo. Moreso, in a bid to further and depend on the welfare of the students and advance the consciousness and goal of the studentship through bringing together the presidents of various Faculties as a whole for the purpose of oneness and unity toward enabling a binding and sound decision that will positively promote the peaceful coexistence of the prestigious University."

He stressed further that the forum will work "to encourage students to be law-abiding, self-discipline, hardworking and well determined academically and morally, is one of the quintessential essences that encourages us to come with such a golden idea of liaison while it's a tradition that has long been practiced in different recognized campuses across the country."

Contributing to discussions in the meeting, presidents of various faculties or their representatives identified some of the challenges faced by students in their respective faculties and discussed ways to solve them. 


They remarked that there is a need for the coalition to have leaders among themselves who will pilot its affairs in which they highlighted five (5) posts and the election into the offices took place immediately. 

Comrade IB Khalifa being the President of the Faculty of Social Sciences emerged as the Chairman and  Comrade Muhammad Sani Hamza, the President of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was elected as the General Secretary while the Public Relations Officer (PRO) elected was Comrade Mubarak Aliyu Kaffe, the President of the Faculty of Education. 

Others elected are Comrade Abdulhakam Junaidu, the president of the Faculty of Chemical and Life Science as the Director of Finance, and Comrade Al-Amin of the Faculty of Agriculture as the Director of Social.

Inside UDUS: NUASA-UDUS Sets To Hold Congress Meeting

  Sewedo Khadijat reports In a bid to ensure and improve the harmonious relationship among various levels, the Nigerian Universities Accounting Students' Association (NUASA), Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto Chapter is set to hold congress meetings across all levels of Accounting Students. This information which was obtained by Vanguard Press is contained in a flier, released by the President of the Association,  Akintomiwa Isaac, and shared to many social media accounts. According to the flier, debate, quiz, talk show, miming competition poem recitation and cultural display are the events to be featured on that day.
